Well....it's been an 'interesting' couple of months since my original post to say the least! Work is still going well which is the one constant but everything else has been less so.
A very dry April coincided with my doing a lot more hours at work so I barely had time to touch the allotment....plus it was SO unseasonably cold that it lulled me into a false sense of security that I had loads of time to get the plot sorted.
May was the monsoon season with almost every day I had off work being a wet one.....and then June arrived with drier and hotter weather and from one visit to Plot 34 and another just over a week later the weeds just exploded into growth!!!
And the third thing to go awry was the breakdown of my marriage! To be honest, things hadn't been great for a while so it took me much soul-searching and sleepless nights to pluck up the courage to bring the subject of us splitting up. And when I did Neil admitted he'd felt much the same for the past few years too! So, to cut a long story short, he has moved out and I am remaining here in Alnwick in our flat. I've spent the past week or so decluttering and moving things about to where I want them, completely rearranging rooms and my houseplant collection and just generally making the place mine - something I haven't had since the last time I lived on my own way back in the mists of time (1997 to be precise - 24 years!).
I'm currently on a week's holiday from work so as well as doing a few basic household things I am planning to get out walking as much as I can as well as try to fit in a bit of tidying on the allotment. For the first time in a very long while I'm actually excited about the future so watch this space...
